Who we are

ICMEC Australia is a small team (we hope to reach a total of ten staff by 2023). We have support from our global parent, which has decades of experience in recovering missing children and working against child exploitation. In Australia, we are unique in our focus, which is to help local industry and law enforcement partners to better detect, report and investigate child exploitation offences.

The culture we are building:
By joining us, you are part of the way we build our culture. We are outcome focused because children are depending on us. We connect with others to get things done. We are respectful and flexible inside and outside our team.

Types of work that we do:
In a small team it is amazing the breadth of tasks that you can get involved in! Aspects of our work include:

  • developing our relationships with key industry contacts, regulators and law enforcement authorities
  • preparing and conducting Working Group meetings with our members
  • liaising with experts all over the world and drawing them into our work
  • planning and executing data projects, leveraging our partners in secure data platforms and analysis
  • producing newsletters and updates to help keep our members up to date on how to work against child exploitation
  • producing research that is of value to the industry
  • developing technology solutions that deliver fresh data and capability to those fighting child exploitation

Why you might want to work with us:
Sometimes, as we look forward in our career we are looking to align our work to our personal values more closely. If we do this well, our efforts are less about finding energy for “work” and more about pursuing the satisfaction that we are making a difference on something that matters. In our case, this is protecting children, who are certainly some of the most vulnerable within our community.

Our Values

Icon of Family

Caring with Integrity

We will always make the right, risk adjusted decision, even if it is the hardest to implement.  We genuinely care about people and while we will be direct, we will always explain why.

Icon Mountains

Strong opinions loosely held

We believe in backing our decisions, but be open to change, based on circumstances and evidence.  We will consider the attributes used to make the decision, as much as the decision in our discussions.

Icon of Map

Focus on outcomes

We believe in focussing on fewer things that will have the biggest impact, never moving activity into diminishing returns.

Icon of Speech Bubbles

Be openly humble

We believe in transparency, encouragement and confidence, never arrogance, but always under-promising and over-delivering.

Icon of hands

Respectful irreverence

Although we will respect each other and our work, we won’t take ourselves too seriously. Enjoyment will be part of our day.
