In collaboration with our law enforcement partners, ICMEC Australia has developed a general awareness training package for frontline officers on online child sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA). Running across 2026, the program provides officers with an overview of OCSEA crime types and community-facing reporting pathways to strengthen their frontline response.

In 2026, ICMEC Australia will maintain its strong partnership with the Australian Border Force (ABF) to help strengthen the capabilities of ABF investigators in safeguarding children from exploitation and fostering safer communities. Throughout the year, ICMEC Australia will provide tailored training to investigators, developed in close collaboration with ABF and aligned with their operational needs. ABF plays a crucial role to protect Australia's border and enable legitimate travel and trade, and ICMEC Australia is honoured to continue supporting ABF in this work.
In November 2025, ICMEC Australia partnered with OSINT Industries to deliver specialist open-source intelligence training to almost 50 NSW and Tasmania Police officers. The program equipped law enforcement with practical OSINT skills and tools to support proactive investigations into online child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Across August and September 2025, ICMEC Australia delivered three targeted training sessions for 48 ABF investigators. The sessions covered the key topics of managing caseloads, dealing with child sex offenders, and supporting personal and peer wellbeing. An ICMEC Australia-engaged trainer organised and delivered the program, building resilience and capability across the workforce.
In January 2025, ICMEC Australia was proud to sponsor and partner in the delivery of COSEC training to 27 Australian and New Zealand law enforcement. Trainers from EUROPOL and the European Cybercrime Centre delivered cutting-edge, case-linked insights to combat OCSEA, marking the first time this international program was held in Australia.
In September 2024, ICMEC Australia sponsored and coordinated training delivered by the Child Rescue Coalition. The training equipped 23 law enforcement officers with skills to use CRC’s CPS software tools for proactive investigations and computer forensic functions targeting the distribution of child sexual abuse material across multiple file-sharing networks. ICMEC Australia also hosted a networking event.
In August 2024, ICMEC Australia sponsored and coordinated the delivery of specialist training for 46 officers in Victoria and NSW. Contracted trainers delivered a victim-centric, trauma-informed approach to handling child sexual abuse cases, strengthening the capacity of frontline officers to respond with sensitivity, skill, and a focus on survivor wellbeing.
ICMEC Australia work closely with the Royal Malaysian Police and other key international partners, in providing monthly mentoring to Malaysian police officers. These sessions aim to strengthen investigative skills for OCSEA cases, supporting improved child protection efforts throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
In collaboration with the Attorney General’s Chambers of Malaysia, ICMEC Australia conducted a week-long training session in Kuala Lumpur for 19 judges and 35 prosecutors from across Malaysia. The program was designed to strengthen the capacity of prosecutors, law enforcement, and the judiciary by enhancing their understanding of OCSEA crimes, with particular emphasis on understanding and breaking down NCMEC CyberTipline reports.
In October 2024, in partnership with the Australian Attorney General's Department and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, ICMEC Australia delivered training to 50 judges and prosecutors in Cambodia. The program raised awareness of the current crimes against children landscape, and explored modern strategies and protocols for effective prosecutorial success.
