Our last curated news of the year highlights AUSTRAC news and a key update regarding eSafety’s industry codes:

  1. AUSTRAC has announced its regulatory priorities for 2024 – additional sector will be under scrutiny, see the full media release for details –
  2. Brendan Thomas has been announced as the next CEO of AUSTRAC – he was the former Deputy Secretary at the NSW Department of Communities and also previously the CEO of Legal Aid NSW –
  3. The first 5 of eSafety’s industry codes came into effect starting Saturday, the 16th of December – the codes apply to “social media companies, app stores, internet service providers, hosting providers, device manufacturers and suppliers” –
